Wisner council adopts ordinance rezoning six lots in Jane S. Wisner Addition

The Wisner City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-1199 on Jan. 20, changing the zoning designation from Residential (R) to Commercial (C) for Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Block 9 of the Jane S. Wisner Addition. Councilman Andrew Schweers introduced the ordinance at the meeting.
Councilwoman Cathy Gobar moved to suspend the statutory requirement that ordinances receive readings on three different days; Schweers seconded that motion and the council voted Ayes — Schweers, Meyer and Gobar; Nay — none; Absent — LJ Parker. Gobar then moved for final passage and Councilman Barry Meyer seconded; the same three council members voted to adopt the ordinance. Mayor Terry Soden declared Ordinance No. 2026-1199 adopted and signed the ordinance; City Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie James attested.
James had opened the public hearing on the rezoning earlier and explained the need for a second approval because not all of the lots were included in the city’s initial approval process. No public comments were recorded during the hearing.
The ordinance was read by title at the meeting and the council completed the formal adoption steps on Jan. 20. The minutes indicate a complete, signed copy was filed with the city clerk.
