Monona County clears sheriff’s vehicle purchase, authorizes job posting and delays M.O.U. changes

Monona County supervisors on June 9 authorized the Sheriff’s Office to purchase a replacement patrol vehicle and approved recruitment for a supervisory dispatch position.
On a unanimous vote the board approved authorization for Sheriff Kevin Ewing to purchase a Chevrolet Tahoe from Karls Automotive for $53,740. The board also authorized the sheriff to advertise for a Jail/Dispatch Lead position. Proposed revisions to the Sheriff Department’s memorandum of understanding were tabled for further review.
Sheriff Ewing was present while the board handled the requests; the motions were made and recorded by the supervisors and carried 3–0. The vehicle purchase and the job posting authorization move to the implementation phase pending procurement and hiring steps.
