Administrator Mark Tyner described bathroom maintenance issues and presented rough designs and an estimated fiscal impact of about $200,000 for a new bathroom rebuild. Clerk/Auditor Gabriel Woytek raised questions about whether the expense would meet statutory restrictions for Transient Room Tax (TRT) Rec/Film/Convention funds, citing State Auditor Tina Cannon's guidance that TRT funds must bring non-local visitors to the county for tourism, recreation, film, or conventions.
Commissioner Mike McCurdy moved to postpone the item; the motion passed 7–0. Commissioners discussed pursuing a feasibility study through the CIB to consider a holistic remodel or rebuild but declined to approve a direct bathroom appropriation at this meeting.
Next steps: Staff may pursue a CIB feasibility request and clarify fund-eligibility questions before returning a detailed proposal to the commission.
