Grand Forks County commissioners approved several funding and contracting items in a single block of business, voting unanimously on each motion.
The sheriff reported the county received a $141,375 Operation Stone Garden award from the Department of Emergency Services with no local match; the board authorized the sheriff to accept and sign the grant. The sheriff said funds will be used for overtime, UAS equipment, fuel and vehicle maintenance.
The commission also approved a two-year food-service agreement (with a one-year renewal option) with Summit Food Services for the county correctional center; the sheriff said the proposed contract mirrors the existing arrangement and provides a better rate. Commissioners moved and approved the contract by voice vote.
Other approvals included a contract with Midwest Contracting for county flex fund projects and a lease amendment adding 154 square feet to Northeast Human Servicesspace at $2,530 per year; Administrator Ford emailed the state-approved amendment to the board and the commission authorized signatures. A motion authorizing a commissioner to sign documents on behalf of an absent chair was also approved.
An invoice for Grant Skyen was considered; one commissioner recused from voting on that item and the remaining members approved the payment.
All votes on the recorded items were unanimous among participating commissioners. Staff were authorized to execute contracts and finalize signatures where needed.
What this means: These actions authorize immediate acceptance of grant funds and execution of contracts needed for sheriff operations, correctional food service, and county flex fund projects.
