Wisner officials say water treatment controls on track; pumping expected in April

City Administrator and Utility Superintendent Randy Woldt told the Wisner City Council on March 2 that work on the new Water Treatment Plant is progressing and that training and controls work remain before the plant begins pumping into the distribution system.
Councilwoman Cathy Gobar asked when the plant would be open and pumping. Woldt said staff are working on controls and that operator training is scheduled to begin about March 15 for approximately two weeks; if training and controls proceed without delay, pumping is expected the first part of April. Woldt also said the project includes testing equipment to monitor nitrates at the plant intake and that a team will attend operator training in Kearney.
Other routine operational items were raised under communications: Councilman Andrew Schweers asked about parking restrictions on the main street and the status of the street sweeper; Woldt said he did not recall daytime parking limits and that the street sweeper had a belt issue but should be functional with the new operator. A resident also asked the city to fix a hole in the street near their house; Woldt said the city will address it.
