The Wisner City Council voted to allow the Wisner Lions Club to use Wisner River Park for a Youth Outdoor Expo coordinated with Nebraska Game and Parks.
Councilman LJ Parker moved to permit the Lions Club to use the park for the event; Councilwoman Cathy Gobar seconded the motion. The vote was recorded as Meyer, Parker and Gobar voting aye; Andrew Schweers was absent.
Council members said the event is in early planning. City Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie James said the Lions Club planned to reach out to Game and Parks, and Councilman Barry Meyer noted the youth rodeo will return to the park this summer, indicating multiple youth-oriented activities are planned for the season.
No date or additional conditions were specified in the minutes; staff and the Lions Club are expected to coordinate permit and safety details with Game and Parks and city staff as planning progresses.
