Board approves four policy updates and several revised job descriptions during budget workshop

During the RSU 23 budget workshop the board approved second readings and passage of four policies (IJNDB-R, KEB, KE, JP) and approved revised job descriptions for the IEP coordinator, maintenance utility worker, guidance secretary and district registrar by voice vote.
The RSU 23 school board approved a set of policy updates and revised job descriptions during the budget workshop.
Barb read second readings for policies IJNDB-R (student computer and Internet use), KEB (complaints about school personnel), KE (public concerns and complaints) and JP (student donations and gifts). Board member Santino moved to approve the policies as written; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board also moved to approve revised RSU 23 job descriptions, including the IEP coordinator, maintenance utility worker, guidance secretary and district registrar. The motion to approve the job descriptions was made by Santino and seconded by Barb and passed by voice vote.
Administrative notes recorded at the meeting: policy KEB outlines a four-step complaint procedure (supervisor → superintendent → board chair); if the board acts on a personnel complaint the decision will be made in executive session and the superintendent’s determinations may be final in certain cases. The policies are posted under the school board tab on the district website for public review.
Next step: the board will incorporate these approved policy changes into district materials and staff job descriptions will be updated per the approved language.
