Nehawka trustees approve routine minutes and a $42 sewer credit after 3–1 vote

Chairman Pat Neu called the Village of Nehawka Board of Trustees to order on Jan. 8, 2025, and the board approved routine business including the Dec. 11 and Dec. 19 meeting minutes, the Jan. 8 treasurer’s report and claims.
The most contested vote involved a sewer overage claim from resident Ben Heneger of 501 Lincoln St. Heneger told trustees that a water leak that he had professionally repaired did not pass through the sewer system and asked for a refund of sewer overages. Trustee Chad Krueger moved to credit Heneger’s water account $42 upon presentation of a professional repair bill; Trustee Matt Anson seconded. The motion passed 3–1 with Trustee Pat Neu voting no and Trustee Ian Begemann absent.
The board also directed the Village Attorney to draft an ordinance authorizing the village to have and maintain a debit card for select purchases; that ordinance was tabled for further consideration at the February meeting. Trustees instructed staff to obtain guardrail quotes, including work on Oak Street between Washington and North and at the Oak/Washington intersection, with pricing to be presented in February.
Trustee Matt Anson moved to adjourn at 7:34 p.m.; Trustee Chad Krueger seconded and all present voted in favor.
