The Village of Nehawka Board of Trustees on Dec. 11 approved a package of routine governance and financial items and made two appointments for 2025. Trustees approved the Nov. 13 minutes and the Treasurer’s Report, approved claims while tabling salaries and a sewer expense, and adopted the year-end certification of city streets. Multiple motions were unanimous among the three members present (Chad Krueger, Matt Anson and Pat Neu); trustees Ian Begemann and Tim Dineen were absent.
The board appointed Scott Hrabik of JEO as the Street Superintendent for 2025 and retained JEO as the village engineer for 2025; both appointments were moved by Chairman Chad Krueger and seconded by Trustee Matt Anson and carried unanimously by those present. The board tabled consideration of approval/disapproval of a village debit account until the next regular meeting.
In a financial adjustment tied to billing history since August 2022, Trustee Matt Anson moved and Chairman Chad Krueger seconded a transfer of $34,943.95 from the water account to the sewer account to allocate the sewer portion of combined ACH payments and to reflect that sewer is taxed; the motion carried. The board noted the COVID Recovery Funds disbursement had been discussed at a prior meeting and required no further discussion. During public comment, community members Nick Rayer and June Bennett said they were investigating higher bills from Papillion Sanitation; the board also reviewed the Customer Balance Summary and determined that one customer will receive a disconnect notice for nonpayment.
The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.; McKenna Sobota, Clerk/Treasurer, attested to the minutes.
