The Village of Nehawka Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Oct. 23, 2024, to renew the village’s property insurance with Continental Western Group following a review by Scott Miller of Miller Farrell Insurance. Miller outlined changes to coverage, noting the policies cover all perils including wind and hail and that deductibles apply per occurrence. He told the board that a competing quote from the current carrier did not include the Community Building because the building is over 40 years old, and he said cyber security coverage would need to be added to the renewal package.
Board discussion included a consideration of adding a terrorism clause; the board declined that clause. The motion to renew the village property insurance with Continental Western Group was made by Pat Neu and seconded by Chairman Tim Dineen. Voting yes were Dineen, Krueger, Anson and Neu; Trustee Ian Begemann was absent.
The minutes do not list premium amounts or exact deductible figures; those specifics were discussed by the insurance representative but not recorded in the minutes and therefore are not specified here. The record shows the board compared at least two quotes before selecting Continental Western Group.
