The Yutan City Council on May 19 approved several motions and took one procedural deferral during a meeting at Yutan City Hall.
Consent agenda: The council approved the consent agenda (minutes, treasurer's report and claims). Total claims listed without payroll were $51,169.21; payroll totaled $26,692.44 for a combined total of $77,861.65. Motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Council President Schimenti, seconded by Councilmember Mach; roll call vote was Lawton, Schimenti, Mach and Smith voting yes.
Resolution 2026-11 (police lease line): Council President Schimenti introduced Resolution 2026-11 to add a new budget line in the Police Department for lease obligations related to a new police station. Councilmember Smith moved to approve, seconded by Councilmember Lawton; roll call vote (Schimenti, Mach, Smith, Lawton) was unanimous and motion carried.
Library Board appointment: A motion by Council President Schimenti, seconded by Councilmember Smith, approved the appointment of Maleah Johnson to the Library Board. Roll call in favor: Mach, Smith, Lawton, Schimenti.
CRA Board appointment: Councilmember Mach moved, seconded by Councilmember Lawton, to table the appointment of a Community Redevelopment Authority board member. Roll call vote in favor: Smith, Lawton, Schimenti, Mach. The item was tabled for future consideration.
Police office furniture: Police Chief Luthy II presented bids from ULine and National Business Furniture and said he awaited a bid from Eakes. The council approved the ULine bid for $10,500 for office furniture. Motion to approve was made by Council President Schimenti and seconded by Councilmember Lawton; roll call (Smith, Lawton, Schimenti, Mach) was unanimous.
Adjournment: Councilmember Smith moved to adjourn at 8:07 p.m.; Councilmember Mach seconded; roll call vote (Schimenti, Mach, Smith, Lawton) was unanimous and the meeting adjourned.
None of the approvals at the meeting enacted new ordinances; the resolution established a budget line for lease obligations and the furniture purchase was approved by motion.
