At its June 17 meeting the Harwich Historic District & Historical Commission selected a cranberry red finish for the 2026 historic‑preservation award plaques and agreed to produce framed posters for display in town hall and downloadable poster copies for awardees.
Commissioners also reviewed draft maps for a proposed expansion of the town’s historic district (areas including Main Street, Oak Street, Bank Street and sections of East Center), noted anomalies and gaps in the existing district boundaries and asked staff to continue mapping and to return with a more developed proposal at the next meeting.
On compliance, the commission discussed 328 Bank Street, noting missing shutters, lighting height and color‑temperature issues, and a condenser installed at the front of the building; staff was directed to contact the building department and report back on enforcement options. The commission approved minutes from May 20 and 27 and set administrative next steps for award logistics and possible public presentations after Labor Day.
