Commissioners discussed ordering roughly 10 physical signs reading 'water restrictions in effect' to place at key town locations and agreed the water department should send an advisory letter to restaurants and bars asking staff to serve water on request rather than automatically. The motion was made and seconded and passed by roll call; the board asked department staff to draft language and to send the notice from the Water Department.
The board also discussed coordinated outreach: a bill insert, lawn signs near event locations and outreach to the Chamber of Commerce to amplify the message during the busy summer tourism season. Commissioners said the effort is a nonbinding request intended to conserve water and raise public awareness.
