Bullitt County board approves multiple staffing changes, psychologist reclassification and PBIS rebrand

The Bullitt County Board of Education approved a package of staffing and program changes during its June 15 meeting, including changes aimed at supervision, counseling capacity and school behavioral supports.

Principal requests approved included additional cafeteria-monitor hours at Cedar Grove (0.25 hour/day), extra time for an Overdale lunch monitor (30 minutes/day), a summer clerical hire at Hein Middle School, added clerical hours at Bullitt Central High School and an assistant athletic director at Burnheim Middle School. Several of those positions will be funded with Section 6 funds, fund 22 or Title I as indicated in the packet.

The board also approved a personnel reclassification in special education: one full-time school psychologist vacancy will be converted into two part-time positions to attract candidates seeking flexible schedules; the district currently lists 10 full-time psychologist positions for the coming year and nine are filled.

Separately, the board approved renaming and updating the PBIS coach job description to 'Behavior Systems Specialist' to reflect a broader, whole-child focus on academic, behavioral and social-emotional supports; officials said incumbents may stay in the role and vacancies will be posted per district procedure.

All motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members asked clarifying questions about funding sources (Section 6, Title I, school nutrition accounts) and incumbent procedures for the renamed PBIS role.
