Wville requests county design and maintenance funding; North Point Prairie corridor study seeks safety upgrades

Tony Gamber, assistant director of engineering for Wville, told the St. Charles County roadboard the city submitted two TIP applications: a maintenance overlay for East Pivan Avenue and a design-phase safety study for North Point Prairie Road.
For East Pivan Avenue, Tony Gamber said the three-mile corridor shows progressive pavement failure and the city seeks county participation of about $742,000 for a two-inch mill-and-overlay to address cracking and potholes.
On North Point Prairie Road (about 1.5 miles), Wville described a corridor concept that would add 3-foot shoulders, correct vertical curves, build a 10-foot trail on the east side and introduce intersection changes, including a mini roundabout at Fair Creek and a signalized approach at the North Point Middle School entrance. Gamber said the city did not apply for federal funds for this design phase and is seeking an 80/20 design-only split now while targeting MODOT funding for future construction.
Board members asked staff clarifying questions about crash history and the corridor’s school-related drop-off patterns; Wville said the middle-school drop-off point generates the most complaints and the northern intersection may be identified for future work beyond the current design request.
County staff will include Wville’s requests in the TIP review and advise on potential MODOT applications for construction funding.
