Proser Library grand opening week and summer reading kickoff announced

Library staff told the committee that Proser Library is preparing a grand opening week with a slate of community events and that summer reading, fully funded by the Friends of the Library, launched with strong registration.
Elizabeth said summer reading began Monday and reported nearly 200 registrations. She outlined grand opening events: a kickoff reception and state-of-the-library on Monday, a Juneteenth concert with Nikita Waller on Tuesday, a community "Proser prom" on Wednesday, a family performance and talkback on Saturday, and a band/books photo shoot with the "No Hate" campaign that requires advance registration and has a 50-person cap. Elizabeth thanked the Friends for funding the programs and for publicity secured in the Bloomfield Messenger.
She encouraged committee members to visit the Friends’ ground-floor book seller at Proser Library and to publicize the grand opening week; staff said many patrons still ask whether Proser is open despite the soft opening on Oct. 28, 2025.
The committee welcomed the update and noted that many items on the construction punch list have been completed since the soft opening.
