The Quartzsite Common Council voted on March 24 to assign the south-facing wall of the Community Center Annex as the location for a children’s mural to mark the town’s participation in America 250 activities.
A representative of the parks cultural and beautification advisory board told the council the board wants children — guided by local VFW members and art guild volunteers — to prepare the mural, and that the annex wall offers good exposure and proximity to after‑school programs. "They would like to proceed with that," the advisory board representative said, urging council guidance on location and scheduling.
Council members discussed practical issues including whether the wall would be shaded during hot months, appropriate age ranges for participants, and seeing a visual mock-up in the packet before painting begins. The advisory board representative said the group plans to schedule work when temperatures permit and expects children of various ages to take part under adult supervision.
Council member Goldberg moved to assign the Annex building wall for the mural and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Members suggested a ribbon-cutting or unveiling ceremony once the mural is complete.
No funding appropriation or detailed art design was approved at the meeting; the council limited action to selecting the location and asked the advisory board to return with any necessary details or materials for future approvals.
