The Wake County Board of Education recorded several formal actions by unanimous roll call at its June 17 meeting:
Interim budget resolution for FY2026–27 — approved (unanimous roll call). Staff said the Wake County Board of Commissioners approved a county appropriation that left no county funding gap but final state budget action could require adjustments; adopting an interim resolution will allow salaries and routine operations to continue July 1.
Policy 1010 (board authority and duties) — waived second reading and adopted on first reading (unanimous roll call). Revisions recommended by the North Carolina School Board Association and staff replace the current policy upon final approval.
Policy 2120 (code of ethics — responsibility for school board members) — waived second reading and adopted on first reading (unanimous roll call). Two specific language additions discussed at policy committee meetings were included for first reading.
Meal price increase and task force — approved (unanimous roll call). The board approved a 25-cent per-meal price increase at all grade levels and amended the motion to create a task force to convene in September to study alternatives and strategies to increase participation and offset costs.
Vote participants (recorded 'I' on roll calls): Dr. Ing; Miss Cfield; Miss Gordon; Dr. Job; Miss Edmonds; Vice Chair Hershey; Chair Swanson. The board also approved routine consent items earlier in the meeting.
