Commission adopts revised plan requirements; Conservation Division wins funds for invasive management

The Conservation Commission unanimously approved revised plan requirements at its Jan. 15 meeting, clarifying standards for plan content and professional qualifications while exempting projects under 250 square feet from the landscape plan requirement unless the commission waives the exemption.
Commissioner Jack Frost confirmed with the Conservation Agent that direct abutter and contour-line requirements are standard and proposed editorial edits to clarify language. CA said most firms that file with the town already have staff meeting the qualifications the new language requires and that inadequately prepared landscape plans can result in delays and additional costs. The commission agreed to an edit clarifying that any of the plan requirements may be waived at the commission’s discretion.
In other business, the Conservation Division announced it had been awarded community economic development physical improvement funds to support invasive species management and the annual community cleanup day. Select Board member Mark Forest, in attendance, said the Select Board wants stronger warning letters and more signage to enforce drought restrictions and encouraged the public to report violations to the Water Department.
The meeting closed after routine motions to approve prior meeting minutes and an adjournment vote.
