Levan council approves FY 2027 tentative budget, schedules public meeting before final adoption

The Levan Town Council on May 14 unanimously approved the FY 2027 tentative budget, which covers the General Fund (garbage, streets, park, DUP cabin) and enterprise funds for water, electric, gas and Internet.
Town Clerk Christine Carrigan told the council the FY 2026 natural gas revenues were lower than projected due to a mild winter and said the water fund's depreciation line will need to be adjusted to include a $65,000 bond payment that was omitted from the prior year's budget. Councilmember Rachel Goates moved to approve the tentative budget; Jerry Spencer seconded the motion and the vote carried unanimously. The council said a formal noticed public meeting will be held before final adoption.
Separately during Council Business the council approved the Consent Agenda (minutes and financial reports) with Councilmember Brady Taylor abstaining because he was not present at the April 9 meeting, and tentatively approved a building permit for a 30-by-50-foot steel outbuilding for Heath Butler pending Planning Commission review.
