The South Jordan Arts Council presented its 2025 annual report to the City Council on Feb. 17, highlighting theater productions, public-art installations, year-round exhibitions and expanded youth programming.
Shan Lloyd, chair of the Arts Council, described two major theater productions last year (Annie and Forever Plaid), successful community competitions, utility-box art wraps and painted panels along the Jordan River Trail. Lloyd said the council's theater offerings drew audiences from beyond the city and that the council participates in efforts to keep programs affordable and accessible for youth and families. "We try to spread this out across the year so that we can continue to have something every month for everyone," Lloyd said.
The Arts Council previewed 2026 plans including a spring production of Guys and Dolls, a Bingham Creek Trail mural in spring 2026, and continued events such as art shows, the annual art swap gala and family-oriented art activities at the Gale Center. Council members and the mayor thanked Lloyd and staff for the work and asked clarifying questions about the mural location (near 4800 West). The council expressed support for continued public-art projects and for efforts to involve local artists.
Staff will coordinate with the council and the arts group on upcoming events and the Bingham Creek Trail mural timeline.
