Juab County Sheriff Douglas Anderson announces retirement and upcoming transition

Douglas Anderson, the Juab County Sheriff, informed the Levan Town Council on May 14 that he will retire in two days and read his formal retirement letter. Anderson said his retirement is a transition to a new position as Director of Security with a local business and not a resignation from public service.
He advised the council that Chief Deputy Travis Gunnison would assume operational leadership by statute and explained the Republican Party will select an interim from among the primary election candidates; the county's primary is scheduled for June 23. Council members and the mayor thanked Anderson for nearly 40 years in law enforcement and more than 11 years of service to the county.
No council action was required or taken on the announcement.
