The Michigan City Common Council recorded several formal actions on June 16.
Ordinance adopted: The council approved on third reading an ordinance amending section 2-322 of the Michigan City Municipal Code regarding methods of payment accepted by the city. The ordinance, introduced by Council members Tilman, Presolinsky and Beatatri, passed by voice vote with eight in favor and none opposed.
ESG contract termination: The council voted 7–1 to terminate an ESG measurement-and-verification services contract and to accept a voluntary termination agreement (the waiver of the pending balance was discussed in the meeting as roughly $7,000). The termination will be signed by the city and ESG and the signed exhibit will be filed with the clerk.
Appointments: The clerk announced a council appointment to the Veterans Commission to fill a vacancy (term begins immediately and expires 12/31/2028); no vote on the appointment was recorded in the meeting transcript.
