The Harrisburg School Board used part of its Feb. 18 meeting to recognize student academic and extracurricular achievements.
Students were noted for music, athletic and academic accomplishments: Elizabeth Guarino qualified to audition for the Arkansas All-State Choir; several wrestlers placed in the 4A South Regionals and at the state tournament (including Felix Banuelos, who finished 2nd in regionals and placed 5th at state; Ray Diaz placed 3rd in regionals and 7th at state). The HHS girls bowling team was listed as 3A state runner-up with individual honors for Claire Caldwell (All-Conference), Emma Correa (All-State Team) and Cheyanne Meilke (All-Conference & All-State Team). The Senior High Quiz Bowl team and Junior High team rosters were read; the Senior High team will compete at the Wynne Invitational on Feb. 28.
Two students, Claire Caldwell and Jax Cunningham, were named to compete in an upcoming science fair under the guidance of HHS teachers Chad Lacy and Molly Lacy. The minutes list participating students and coaches; the recognition item was recorded as informational and required no board action.
