Harrisburg board approves July finances, food-service contracts and raises adult meal prices

The Harrisburg School Board on Aug. 25 approved July 2025 invoices and financial statements, awarded food-service contracts for the 2025–26 school year and accepted a superintendent recommendation to raise adult meal prices. The vote on the financials was 4-0.
Superintendent Julie Isbell presented the recommendation from Food Services Director Mildred Boone. The board approved Turner as the vendor for juice and milk, Sysco (part of the Purchasing Group of Arkansas) for food and supplies, and SGC as a secondary vendor. Kurt Johns moved to approve the bids; Jeremy Lally seconded. The motion carried 4-0.
Isbell also recommended adjusting adult meal prices to $2.50 for breakfast and $4.00 for lunch to take effect for the 2025–26 school year. Johns moved to accept the recommendation; Lally seconded. The motion carried 4-0.
Board members present at the vote were Ryan Murphy (presiding), Kurt Johns, Bridgett Hewitt and Jeremy Lally. No public comment on the food-service items was recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board’s approvals finalize vendor selections for school meals and implement a modest increase in adult meal fees, which the district noted was necessary to align pricing with current cost structures.
