Cudahy Common Council approves police pay ordinances, designates city depository; directs attorney after closed session

The council also approved minutes from the Feb. 22, 2017 regular meeting and confirmed the mayor’s appointments to various city boards, commissions and committees.
On the ordinances docket, the council approved Ordinance No. 2306.6, “An Ordinance Fixing the Wages, Salaries and Fringe Benefits of the City of Cudahy Police Department Command Officers Commencing January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2018,” and Ordinance No. 2375.5, “An Ordinance Fixing the Salary and Fringe Benefits of the Police Chief in the City of Cudahy Police Department for 2017.” Both motions to adopt the ordinances passed on roll call vote.
The council also adopted Resolution No. 7105, designating the City depository pursuant to Wis. Stat. §62.12(7). That motion was approved on a roll-call vote.
The meeting record notes brief department updates from the mayor, including the 2017 Arbor Day celebration and a February 2017 Care for Cudahy inspection summary; those items were informational and required no action.
At 7:22 p.m., the council voted to adjourn into closed session under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(g) to confer with legal counsel who was rendering oral or written advice concerning a legal matter. The agenda item cited a Gleason Construction billing dispute. The council returned to open session at 7:32 p.m., and, by motion, directed the city attorney to proceed as discussed in closed session. The minutes do not record details of the dispute or any public statements about the substance of the counsel’s advice.
The council adjourned at 7:35 p.m. The minutes were passed and approved on March 21, 2017.
