Cudahy council approves use of State Safe Drinking Water funds and lead-pipe agreement; program procedures discussed

At its Feb. 7 meeting, the Common Council approved using State of Wisconsin Safe Drinking Water funds to replace lead service lines on owner-occupied residential properties and at State-licensed schools and daycares (motion by Ald. Moralez, second by Ald. St. Marie-Boelkow). The council also approved a Lead Pipe Replacement Agreement between the property owner and the Cudahy Water Utility (motion by Ald. Moralez, second by Ald. Hollenbeck).
A preceding agenda item recorded discussion of the Private Property Lead Service Replacement Funding program and procedures but noted “no action taken.” The minutes do not record specifics of that discussion or program rules; council members approved the funding use and agreement without recorded amendments.
Resolution No. 7098, also approved at the meeting, formally authorized replacement of the property-side portion of the lead water service line using State Safe Drinking Water Loan Program funds. Resolution No. 7099 authorized execution of a Department of Natural Resources “Principal Forgiven Financial Assistance” agreement related to financing for water infrastructure.
