Committee approves appointments and grant acceptances; schedules CDBG public hearing

CDBG public hearing: Staff asked the committee to authorize a public hearing at the July 22 legislature meeting on a potential 2026 Community Development Block Grant application through the New York State Office of Community Renewal for a possible spa and restaurant in Mayville; the committee authorized the public hearing and staff said an authorizing resolution would be required if the application moves forward.
Welches project beneficiary change: A resolution to change the grant contract beneficiary from Two Portage LLC to Upstate Economic Opportunities LLC for the county infrastructure grant tied to the Welches building (part of a prior $1 million award, including $800,000 for Welches) was presented and approved. Staff said the project supports electrical upgrades, underground vaults, sidewalk, landscaping, lighting and infrastructure for 46 new housing units.
America 250 CHQ History Expo grant: The committee accepted a $15,000 grant from the New York State Education Department to support an America 250 CHQ History Expo scheduled for Aug. 2 at the old Mayville Central School; the event will be free and include vendor tables, exhibits and lectures.
