The Audubon County Board of Supervisors handled routine administrative business at its July 30 meeting, accepting routine reports and approving agreements and payments.
Treasurer Deb Campbell presented the semi-annual report for January through June 2024; the board reviewed the document and moved to accept and file it. The board also accepted and filed the Clerk of Court's report of fees collected for June and approved multiple Manure Management Plan (MMP) annual updates for JEM Investments LLC, Daniel Lauritsen-Jensen Farm, Cumberland (Steve Huegerich) and Sunburst Valley Farms LLC.
On a separate motion, the board approved the FY25 County Substance Abuse Program Agreement with New Opportunities. The minutes record that Chairman Heath Hansen had not been able to contact SWI Juvenile Emergency Services regarding the FY25 allocation and planned to follow up during the week.
The board approved claims submitted by various departments for payment in the amount of $154,319.18 and noted the claims list would be published at the end of July.
Sheriff Todd Johnson presented a memorandum of understanding regarding work schedules for jailers and dispatchers designed to change the rotation of hours so staff would have more time to rest before the next shift; the board approved the MOU on a motion from Sorensen and second from Thompson.
A work session on county ordinances and a discussion about random cash counts by supervisors, prompted by prior State Auditor write-ups, were also recorded; the auditor's office recommended that supervisors perform cash counts together to ensure consistency. The meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
