Audubon County approves HVAC change orders; contractor requests closed session to discuss next proposal

The Audubon County Board of Supervisors approved AIA/Change Orders #6 and #7 for an ongoing county HVAC project at its July 30 meeting, and the board discussed a possible additional change order that a contractor asked to address in closed session.
Chairman Heath Hansen reported Graphite Construction had met with him and several departments to answer questions about ongoing work and that Graphite requested weekly Zoom meetings and periodic in-person coordination. Supervisor Doug Sorensen said he had spoken with Justin Veik of ETI and indicated another change order might be forthcoming.
The board reviewed and approved AIA/Change Orders #6 and #7 on a motion from Sorensen with a second from Thompson. After approving those change orders, the board placed a phone call to Justin Veik to discuss a potential next change order and an outstanding proposal. According to the minutes, Veik said he would prefer a closed session to discuss the proposal issue and asked for time to get things lined up on his end; he said he would contact the board with a time that worked to meet.
The minutes do not record the substance of the potential additional change order or the proposal Veik referenced. The board did not take a separate vote on convening closed session during the recorded meeting.
