Board revises FY25 library allocations, reduces Kimballton share, adds small grants to Brayton and Exira

The Audubon County Board of Supervisors on July 23 revised FY25 library allocations after learning Kimballton currently has no library open to the public. Supervisors removed Kimballton's prior 10% allocation (about $5,200) from the regular distribution and instead set aside $500 for Kimballton to use toward a 28E agreement with Elk Horn.
Supervisors also approved giving Brayton $250 toward its proposed 28E agreement with Exira but stipulated Brayton and Kimballton must present at a meeting before receiving funds. The remaining $4,450 from Kimballton's pulled portion was split between Audubon and Exira: Audubon receives $2,300 and Exira $2,150 in addition to amounts previously budgeted. Exira had earlier presented reports and received board agreement for an additional $1,000 for accreditation.
The board emphasized this is a one-year revision and will be revisited in next fiscal year's budget process. The motion to approve the FY25 revised allocations passed unanimously (motion Thompson; second Sorensen).
