Cudahy Common Council unanimously approves consent items, waives insurance for a resident block party and adopts recognition resolutions

The Cudahy Common Council met May 16, 2017, at the Cudahy Municipal Building and approved a series of routine items, unanimously waiving an insurance requirement for a resident’s block party and adopting six recognition resolutions.
Mayor John Hohenfeldt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and noted that Council Members Moralez, Johnson, Hollenbeck, Litkowiec and St. Marie-Boelkow were present. City Clerk Dennis Broderick was in attendance; City Attorney Eberhardy was absent and excused.
The council approved the consent agenda without discussion. The consent items included minutes from the Common Council meeting of May 2, the Finance meeting of May 2, the Plan Commission meeting of April 11, the Cudahy Family Library Board minutes from Feb. 4 and the Tourism Committee minutes from April 26. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Ald. St. Marie-Boelkow and seconded by Ald. Johnson; on the roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
Under new business, the council considered a request to waive the insurance requirement for a block party requested by resident Dennis Raynor at 3476 E. Van Norman Avenue. Ald. Moralez moved to waive the insurance requirement; Ald. Johnson seconded the motion, which carried on a unanimous roll call vote.
The council also approved the mayor’s appointments to various city boards, commissions and committees. The motion to approve the appointments was made by Ald. Johnson and seconded by Ald. St. Marie-Boelkow; it passed unanimously.
Mayor Hohenfeldt provided brief updates including an update from the Plan Commission’s May meeting and the April 2017 "Care for Cudahy" inspection summary.
The council adopted six resolutions recognizing employees and community members. Resolution No. 7115 recognized more than 20 years of service by Donald Kolbow, Water Utility Distribution Serviceman 1 for the City of Cudahy. Resolution No. 7116 recognized more than four years of service by Michael Reed, Service Worker for the City of Cudahy. Resolution No. 7117 recognized the years of service by Terry Schulke on the City of Cudahy’s Design Review Board. Resolution No. 7118 recognized ten years of service by Thomas Kujawa on the City of Cudahy’s Police and Fire Commission. Resolution No. 7119 approved a certified survey map for 3522 E. Armour Avenue. Resolution No. 7120 congratulated Samanta Toczyl on winning the title of 2017 Cudahy Distinguished Young Woman. Each resolution was moved and seconded as recorded in the minutes and adopted unanimously.
There were no public comments recorded during the meeting. The council adjourned at 7:16 p.m. following a motion by Ald. Johnson, seconded by Ald. Moralez, which carried unanimously.
