Residents raise data center concerns; Township solicitor to draft regulations

Solicitor Amy B. Leonard said she is drafting an ordinance that would establish rules and regulations for data centers; she noted the Township cannot prohibit such uses but can regulate them. Supervisor Ed Brensinger later told the Board that discussions at the recent PSATS conference showed many municipalities are encountering conflicts over data centers and said the Board’s goal is to have regulations in place prior to submission of any plans.
Susan Mion also reminded the Board that a coalition of residents opposes the Jubilee Ministries project, which some residents referenced in the context of land-use concerns. No formal motion or regulation was adopted at the May 18 meeting; the solicitor’s drafting represents the Board’s direction to develop a regulatory approach.
