Committee members discussed an update on outreach to City of Phoenix staff about zoning and land-use matters related to the Riverside project. The discussion focused on preparing coordinated messaging and next steps for engaging Phoenix officials and other stakeholders.
The committee agreed to refine its developer outreach presentation to emphasize Anthem’s benefits to prospective partners. David Duckworth agreed to take the lead on creating that presentation.
Members also planned a developer Familiarization Tour (FAM). Jeff Huff was assigned to coordinate scheduling and logistics for the FAM and to work with Aaron Baker on the effort.
On financing, the committee held an initial discussion of potential funding strategies for Riverside, naming enhancement fees, partnerships and grants as options to explore. Jules Beauvais and Roger Willis agreed to prepare a draft financial plan and to analyze what financial goals should guide ACC involvement in the project. The minutes do not specify target dollar amounts or timelines for those analyses.
Other items raised during the meeting included annexation requirements and developer commitments, plus GIS mapping and visualization to support outreach and planning. The committee set follow-up meetings for April 10 and May 8 to continue developer meetings and policy refinement. With no other business the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
