Board Chair Gary Saiter called the Wenden Elementary School Board of Trustees to order Monday at the district office and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board Member Kimberly Petrea moved to approve the FY2026 Expenditure Budget; Board Member Brianna Davis seconded and the motion passed 3-0. The board then approved the Student Handbook for the 2025-2026 school year and the Wenden Elementary School Employee Handbook for 2025-2026, each on motions by Brianna Davis with seconds from Kimberly Petrea and recorded 3-0 votes.
The board also approved the Fiscal FY26 General Statement of Assurance on a 3-0 vote after a motion by Brianna Davis and a second from Kimberly Petrea. Earlier in the meeting the board discussed the consent agenda (minutes, payroll and expense vouchers, student activities revenue and reports, teacherage and cafeteria reports) and voted to table the consent agenda item after a motion by Kimberly Petrea and a second from Brianna Davis. Several other policy items were also tabled for future consideration, including Board member conflict-of-interest training (Policy BCB) and Policy GCF (Professional Staff Hiring); both were tabled on motions by Kimberly Petrea and seconds by Brianna Davis with recorded 3-0 outcomes.
Superintendent Gloria Dean was listed on the agenda for an administrative report but no items were presented. The meeting listed Cafeteria Report and Student Activities (including 8th grade and Student Council) as information items; no substantive discussion of those items is recorded in the minutes.
The board set its next regular meeting tentatively for Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., and later adjourned. The minutes record standard signature lines for board approval of the minutes.
What the minutes do not specify: the approved budget total, line-item allocations, any proposed changes to handbook language, or a schedule for when the tabled policy items will return for discussion.
