Council to adopt city IT disaster-recovery plan after audit recommendation

City staff told the council the IT disaster-recovery plan in the consent agenda was prepared with contractor BC3 after auditors recommended the city document its recovery procedures.
"This is like any policy; it's a living document we can edit it whenever we want but just getting it on the books," a staff member said, describing the plan as mostly documentation of current practices with named point people and appended procedures that still need to be filled in.
Staff said the plan covers who to contact and the basic steps if the city experiences a cyber incident and that BC3 will be available to support staff during a worst-case event. The plan will be posted and staff will follow audit instructions for the record and for notification to county and school intermediaries where applicable.
Next steps: council to adopt the plan as presented (consent agenda) and staff to finish appendices and post guidance for staff and relevant external partners.
