The Wickenburg Common Council unanimously approved the consent agenda on June 1, adopting a set of routine but substantive items including continued participation in federal Community Development Block Grant programs and a multi-agency investigative agreement.
Vice Mayor Brian Jones moved to approve consent items a, b and c; Councilmember Rebecca Rovey seconded and the motion carried 6-0. Consent item a approved the minutes of the May 18 study session and regular meeting.
Consent item b authorized Resolution 2399, allowing the town to enter a three-year cooperative agreement with Maricopa County's Human Services Department to continue participation in HUD's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Grants Administrator Kathleen Crutchfield summarized the CDBG program's purpose as a federally funded HUD program administered in Arizona through the Arizona Department of Housing and noted eligible activities include infrastructure, public facilities, and services that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents.
Consent item c approved a five-year extension of an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Glendale to remain part of the West Valley Investigative Response Team. Police Chief Les Brown said the team consolidates investigative resources for critical incidents such as officer-involved shootings and in-custody deaths; Wickenburg provides personnel and training and receives investigative support when needed.
All consent motions passed by a 6-0 roll call vote. The town manager is authorized to execute the IGA and the mayor to execute the CDBG cooperative agreement documents.
