During the May 19 Finance Committee meeting Mayor Paul Marnecheck summarized the RITA delinquency/subpoena program and presented prior results from North Royalton's participation.
Mayor Marnecheck said the city's most recent participation two years earlier cost $4,800 and produced $362,000 in collections, equating to roughly $82.12 recovered per dollar expended. Finance Director Jenny Esarey confirmed that RITA offers the option to participate and that the city has historically run the program about every other year; Assistant Law Director Todd Schrader described RITA as an effective partner that provides case leads and a single point of contact for collection and bankruptcy notices.
Committee members did not object to continuing the program on a periodic basis; staff will include the option in future budget and collection planning if Council approves.
