Board approves hires, wages and several policy updates in June meeting

The Auburndale School District board voted through a series of routine personnel appointments, contract renewals and policy approvals at its June meeting.
By voice vote the board approved the appointment of Kelly Yawi as the district's school nurse advisor, Gwen Alman as library media specialist and Jay Anderson as athletic director. The board also approved miscellaneous and extra-duty wage schedules, student fees, the district's academic standards and the seclusion and restraint report for 2025-26.
The board renewed membership in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (grades 9'12 only) and approved a multi-year services agreement with CISA 10, which the administration said helps with grant applications, reimbursement processing and regional course offerings. Board members noted the CISA contract has been a longstanding relationship and delivers financial and program benefits.
On policy, the board adopted the second reading of policy and rule 443.7 (electronic devices in school settings), citing state requirements that take effect July 1, and approved policy 377 and 377.1 addressing interscholastic athletics and tournament attendance. Revisions to the tournament attendance policy removed outdated cheerleading references and added language to treat managers consistently; the board discussed whether administrative attendance at overnight events is best handled in policy or practice.
