Berkeley County commissioners approved a consent agenda on June 11 that included hiring recommendations and several personnel status changes effective July 1, 2026.
President G. Edgar Gochenour announced hiring recommendations from Sheriff Rob Blair for two administrative assistants, Katina Dodson and Trinette Pilgrim, each with annual salaries of $39,500. The consent agenda also recorded a letter of resignation from Kaylynn Robinson, a part-time Voters Clerk, effective June 8.
Changes in status announced on behalf of Fire Chief Martin Roberts included a step increase for Firefighter IV William Newcomb (annual salary from $83,225 to $84,890), a grade increase for John Graham from Firefighter III to Firefighter IV (annual salary from $69,521 to $74,711), and part-time wage increases for Aaron Obitts, Joshua Lee, Justin Ashby, and Bradley Wright from $17.83 per hour to $25.00 per hour. The commission also approved part-time deputy tax clerk wage increases for Kaycee Miller and Tammy Hensler from $17.83 per hour to $21.50 per hour.
The consent agenda was moved by Commissioner H.D. Boyd, seconded by Commissioner James P. Whitacre, and carried unanimously. These personnel and wage changes are effective July 1, 2026 unless otherwise noted in the meeting record.
No separate individual votes were recorded for each personnel item; they were approved as part of the consent agenda.
