The board was briefed about a bomb threat sent to a generic district email on election day that prompted a precautionary evacuation of part of the campus to the auditorium, the superintendent said.
District staff alerted parents, moved students to secure locations, and coordinated with the county sheriff and the county attorney. According to the superintendent, law enforcement and the county attorney assessed the threat as not credible and kept polling places open; the FBI has opened an investigation.
The superintendent said the district conducted a rapid assessment with principals and debriefed the response afterward, and that officials were considering improvements to procedures. The superintendent also noted community members suggested moving the polling location away from the old gym and said the district will explore the issue though it may depend on community use and ownership of the facility.
No evidence of a credible threat was reported in the meeting; the district intends to refine drills and emergency procedures based on the experience.
