Dorchester trustees approve well design work, pay MTZ for streets and seek reimbursement for water-main damage

The Village of Dorchester Board of Trustees on April 13 approved consultant and contractor actions to advance water and street infrastructure work.
Chairperson Roger Miller and trustees approved Olsson Work Order No. 9 to begin design work for a replacement well, a step the board described as part of future water infrastructure projects. The board also approved Pay Application #4 for MTZ related to current street improvements and instructed that other damage bills be submitted to Olsson/MTZ for payment processing and reimbursement after damage was reported to water mains following dirt work by contractor Gana.
Trustees discussed several proposed street projects, including work on Wagner (11th–12th and west end of 11th) and Lincoln (6th–7th). The board decided to drop Wagner for now and table cost estimates for the remaining projects until street designs are completed. Trustees also voted to table assessment decisions until final numbers are available.
The board approved an electrical agreement with the City of Crete; discussion of an electrical project at the Quonset site produced only one bid and the board tabled that project until additional bids are received. The board also approved purchasing a replacement water-tower light for up to $1,000 and directed Utilities Superintendent B. Kasl to install it. Trustees voted to submit bills for damage to contractor MTZ and to seek reimbursement as appropriate.
