Dorchester trustees approve $10,000 for fireworks, $1,000 for baseball; youth group cleared to pursue park grants

Andrea Pracheil and Mike Vodicka appeared for the Baseball/Softball Committee and requested $1,000 for field repairs and equipment; Trustee Lang moved to approve the additional Keno funds and Trustee Nancy Tellez seconded.
The board also granted the DPS Youth Action Committee permission to pursue grant funds for proposed park improvements and to seek village assistance if grant awards are possible. Elizabeth Mumm and DPS students presented the proposal; Chairperson Miller moved to approve the committee’s request to seek grant funding and Trustee Matt Shaw seconded.
Trustees authorized a fireworks stand operated by Travis Kemerling from June 24 through July 5 under village code, contingent on the operator obtaining the required license and location permits before opening; the motion was made by Trustee Matt Shaw and seconded by Chairperson Miller.
Additional community-support items approved included renewal of the village’s membership in NeRWA ($300) and a $500 donation to NeRWA. The board approved a $13,954.53 quote from Nick’s Farm Store for a new Grasshopper mower and directed staff to bring pickup-truck quotes within budget at a later date.
