Dorchester board promotes assistant utilities superintendent; keeps pay unchanged for six-month probation

Trustee Matt Shaw moved the successful motion, which was seconded by Trustee Nancy Tellez; the board carried the motion.
Chairperson Roger Miller had earlier introduced an alternative motion to promote Kasl with an immediate pay increase to $23.60, but that motion failed. The board discussed the vacancy and candidate evaluation in a brief closed session earlier in the meeting; the minutes state no formal action was taken during the closed session.
The board authorized the village to accept applications for an assistant utilities position through Feb. 6, 2026. The minutes direct that recruitment ads be placed in the local newspaper, posted at three village locations (including the post office and First State Bank), displayed on the marquee, and posted on the village website and Facebook page.
The action changes the village's utilities leadership pending the six-month probationary period; the board did not record vote tallies in the minutes. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2026, when the board will receive further updates.
