Alexandria council adopts cybersecurity ordinance, comprehensive plan and appoints deputy clerk

The Village of Alexandria Council unanimously passed several governance measures at its June 2 meeting, including a cybersecurity ordinance, a ransomware-payment protocol and adoption of the village’s 2026 Comprehensive Plan.
Council adopted Ordinance 2026-08 to implement a cybersecurity program pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 9.64 and passed Resolution 2026-18 establishing a protocol for any ransomware payment in response to a cybersecurity incident. Both measures were approved after council suspended the reading and voted by unanimous roll call.
Council also adopted Resolution 2026-19 to approve the 2026 Village of Alexandria Comprehensive Plan following a Planning Commission recommendation. In personnel action, council passed Resolution 2026-17 to authorize the mayor and administrator to contract with Alyx (Karli) Grimsley to serve as deputy clerk and declared the measure an emergency; the vote was unanimous.
Administrator Kendra Borror told council that she and staff had completed the Social Media Policy that is before council; Resolution 2026-20 was introduced as a first reading covering both Facebook and the village website. Planning Commission representatives said they are working with EDG on an economic-development toolkit and may present a workshop for council.
