Commission approves consent agenda, multiple resolutions and tentative labor agreement

Resolution 419 approved transition of Battle Creek Transit operations, assets and certain contracts to the Transportation Authority of Calhoun County (TAC) effective July 1, 2026; the TAC will assume operations and related expenses per the transition agreement. Resolution 420 authorized a closed session under MCL 15.268 for collective bargaining strategy and named the city manager to record minutes.
After returning from closed session, the commission approved a tentative agreement with the supervisors' bargaining unit for the fire department dated June 16, 2026. Commissioners thanked staff working on the transition and budget items and asked staff to explore passing along debt service savings to residents if possible.
