The Vernon County Economic Development Committee on May 7 voted to accept proposed changes to the 2026 Elevate Vernon Grant Program and reviewed promotional and partnership plans for the county.
David Strudthoff moved to accept the proposed changes; Tom Weston seconded the motion, and committee members approved it unanimously. Larkin Breckel summarized program changes and said staff will roll out brand templates and updated materials to support local businesses and tourism partners.
Breckel also reported the county received 15,000 copies of the 2026 Vernon County guide and plans to distribute them across the county, to out-of-county welcome centers, and along the I-90 corridor toward Minneapolis to attract visitors and potential employees. Breckel said staff are reconnecting with tourism partners and chambers and will organize a leadership roundtable to align promotion and workforce-recruitment efforts.
The committee’s actions were administrative: adopting program updates and approving implementation steps for marketing and distribution. Members scheduled the next meeting for June 4, 2026.
