Trustees also approved 2020 dispatching costs for the township’s participation in Dublin’s NRECC at $411,589 (motion passed Nov. 19). Trustees had earlier discussed a proposal from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to provide marked deputies; members requested preliminary numbers for comparison but expressed concerns about apples-to-apples bidding and that the county proposal was higher than current contracted costs.
Resident Brittany Vega, who lives on Shady Brook Lane, asked the board to consider additional street lighting to improve student safety during morning walks to the bus stop. Trustees approved a formal street-lighting resolution and voted to add intersection lights at Valley Crest and Shady Brook and a cul-de-sac light at the end of Shady Brook; the monthly cost reported was $14.51 per light through AEP.
Trustees also discussed the timing of dispatch staffing changes as the City of Worthington planned to join NRECC in 2020, and NRECC leadership explained a planned re-alignment of supervisory positions tied to agency growth.
Next steps: the fiscal officer will finalize contract documentation and trustees asked staff to return comparative figures if Franklin County provides a formal proposal.
