Library board president: yearbook digitization complete; Summer Quest starts June 18

Maureen Wenick, president of the Library Board of Trustees and a Ward 4 resident, told the committee on June 15 that the library has completed digitizing the Upper Moreland High School yearbook collection and that the library purchased its own scanning equipment to offer similar services to local organizations.
"Digitizing of our collections of the Upper Moreland High School yearbook is now complete," Wenick said, noting she had viewed the digitized 1953 yearbooks online. She said the library plans to make the scanner available so organizations can digitize materials locally.
Wenick also reminded the committee that the library's Summer Quest program, which promotes reading and learning for all ages, begins June 18 and that patrons can register through Beanstack or with a paper application at the library. She cited a recent Education Department/National Center for Education Statistics study noting a long-term decline in children’s free time since 2012 as context for encouraging low-stress family reading habits over the summer.
