City Planner Melissa Hartman explained that Resolution R-26-01 would amend the fee schedule to add registration fees for vacant and abandoned properties and allow the city to begin registering such properties. Hartman said the fees were designed to offset the administrative costs of operating the program and cited increased citizen calls about vacant properties as part of the rationale.
Councilmember Mel Sowid moved to approve the resolution; Councilmember Anna Cline seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The change enables the city to begin program administration and fee collection under the amended building-inspector fee schedule.
